Stop Eating These Foods Immediately They Can Cause Cancer
Vegetable Oil
This is
another common food that you should eliminate from your menu as soon as
possible. Vegetable oils are abundant in polyunsaturated fats. In fact, they
are made of 98% monounsaturated and saturated fat. Plus, these oils undergo
extensive modification in structure during their production process and this
affects the cell membranes in the body leading to a number of diseases including
cancer.
Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs):
The rapidly
growing industry of genetically modified crops are infiltrating our food
supply at an alarming rate. More than 90% of our corn and soy are now
genetically modified. This fairly new practice is the source of many debates.
Experts agree that adequate testing was not done before GMO foods were added to
the ingredient listing of thousands of products. In other words, no one –
including the growers and manufacturers of GMO foods – knows the long-term
effect they will have on human health. Look for GMO-free labels whenever
possible or buy organic .
Canned Tomatoes
Stay away,
Frederick vom Saal, an endocrinologist at the University of Missouri, tells Prevention.
The problem with canned tomatoes involves the resin linings of tin cans, which
contain “bisphenol-A, a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to ailments
ranging from reproductive problems to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.”
Tomatoes are
known for their acidity, a trait that causes BPA to leak into your food.
Studies say the BPA in most people exceeds the amount that suppresses sperm
production or causes chromosomal damage to the eggs of animals, according to
Prevention.
While fresh
tomatoes are actually considered to be the cancer fighting foods, those
canned ones are nothing like that. Actually, most canned foods are a concern
because of what the can is lined with. The lining of almost all canned foods
are made with a chemical called bisphenol-A, or BPA.
Processed Meat
What exactly
are processed meats? This is a long list that includes, but is not limited to,
sausages, hot dogs, bacon, most lunch meats like bologna or pimento loaf.According
to new research, sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate in processed meat can
significantly increase the risk of colon cancer. In retrospective, there has
always been a possible link between mortality and meat consumption.
Microwave Popcorn
From
the chemically-lined bag to the actual contents, microwave popcorn is at the
center of lung cancer debates around the world. Not only are the kernels and
oil likely GMO unless organic, the fumes released from artificial butter
flavoring contain diacetyl, which is toxic to humans. Make your own organic
popcorn the old-fashioned way – it tastes better, doesn’t release toxic fumes,
and is a healthier choice for you.
Boxed cereal
It’s hard to
find a boxed cereal that doesn’t contain at least one form of sugar, making it
a terrible go-to for breakfast. You know the fun shapes that your cereal comes
in? In order to get those shapes, food has to be put through a lot of
processing, often stripping the wheat of nutrients.
Soda Pop
Perhaps you
heard about the recent study that was published in May in the American Journal
of Nutrition? It found that people who consumed more than one soda per day had
a higher risk of stroke than people who did not drink sodas.
Loaded with sugar,
sodas are an empty source of calories that cause weight gain and contribute to
the nationwide epidemic of obesity. Drinking large amounts of this rapidly
digested sugar causes your blood sugar to spike which can lead to both inflammation
and insulin resistance. Soda is often the root cause of gastro-esophageal reflux
disease, which is when the contents of the stomach leak into the esophagus
causing not only pain but an actual burning of the esophagus from stomach acid.
Although
sodas are not a direct cause of ulcers, they are known to irritate and make
those with ulcers have more pain. Sodas also contain artificial colorings
and food chemicals like derivative 4-methylimidazole (4-MI); no wonder soda pop
has been shown to cause cancer.
Farmed Salmon
There’s
mounting evidence that farm-raised salmon contains large amounts of dioxin,
PCB’s and other cancer-causing substances, unlike wild salmon. The thing is,
farmed salmon is fed on a diet high in contaminants, antibiotics and other
harmful ingredients. According to research, consumption of farm-bred salmon can
put you at a higher risk of cancer due to its high concentration of PCB.
Grilled Red Meat:
While
grilled food can taste delicious, scientists have discovered that preparing
meats in this way – especially processed meats like hot dogs – releases a
carcinogen called heterocyclic aromatic amines. When you grill red meat to the
point of well-done, it changes the chemical and molecular structure of the
meat. You’re better off baking, broiling, or preparing meat in a skillet than
on the grill.
Rice cakes
Once part of
the low-calorie, fat-free diet craze, Livestrong writes three cakes have a very
high glycemic index of 100, meaning it’s the kind of carb that can
send your blood sugar skyrocketing. Simply put, it’s bad for your health and
weight loss.
MyFitnessPal’s
Blog writes that if you take a look at a rice cake’s label, you’ll see how
bad these snacks really are. There’s no fat, no fiber, and very few vitamins
and minerals. A rice cake won’t nourish your body or provide fuel to help get
you through the day. It is just a refined carb sprinkled with salt and
drizzled with artificial flavoring.
Potato Chips
Yes, we
know, potato chips are cheap, great tasting, quick snack, however, the negative
effects they have on your body may not be worth the little bit of pleasure you
derive from these crispy snacks.Potato chips are high in both fat and calories,
which are sure to bring on weight gain. A study done in the New England Journal
of medicine found that eating just 1 once of potato chips per day caused an
average 2 pound weight gain in one year. Besides being full oftrans-fats which
can cause high cholesterol in most people, they have excessive sodium
levels which, for many people, cause high blood pressure.
Potato chips
have artificial flavors, numerous preservatives, and colors as well,
which is something else your body doesn’t need. Potato chips are fried in high
temperatures to make them crispy but this also causes them to make a material
called acrylamide, a known carcinogen that is also found in
cigarettes.
Refined Sugar:
The
biggest cancer causing food (by far) is high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and
other refined sugars. Even brown sugar is highly refined white sugar with some
of the removed molasses added back in for flavor and color. Refined sugars (and
foods made with them) are the source of major insulin spikes and feed the
growth of cancer cells. Since the majority of the sugar supply in the U.S. is
made using genetically modified (GMO) sugar beets, a healthier option is
organic honey, coconut sugar, or maple sugar.
Foods that are highly salted, pickled, or
smoked
Foods that
are cured by use of nitrates or nitrites act as preservatives as well
as adding color to the meat. Although nitrates do not cause cancer in and of
themselves, under certain conditions these chemicals change once they are
inside the body into N-nitroso composites. It’s this N-nitroso that is
associated with a greater increase the risk of developing cancers.
Smoking
foods such as meat or nuts causes these food items to absorb considerable
amounts of the tar that smoke produces. Tar is a known carcinogen. Meats such
as bacon, sausage, bologna, and salami are high in fat and salt. Pickled foods
are also very high in salts.
4 Steps to Help Prevent Cancer
In addition
to the 10 foods listed above, also be sure to avoid any food labeled as
“diet,” “light,” or “fat-free”. In order to remove fat or natural calories,
they are replaced with chemicals that are dangerous to your body.Instead of
consuming food products that manufacturers claim is “good for you” –
follow these four anti-cancer diet tips to prevent cancer the easy way:
*Eat organic whenever
possible.
*Choose raw
or clean frozen if availability of fresh product isn’t good in your area.
*Fill half
your plate each meal with non-starchy vegetables. If you eat animal products,
make sure they’re pastured and grass-fed meats and dairy goods (including
eggs). Use only high quality oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, ghee, or
grass-fed butter.
*Cut back
drastically on grains and sugars.
Not only
will eliminating these foods lower your cancer risk, you’re going to feel (and
look) better from the inside out.
